A little bit about Ms. Crockett:Hello Turtle Lake students and parents!
I am in my fifteenth year teaching in the Mounds View School district and my fourteenth year at Turtle Lake Elementary. I have a B.S. degree in Music Education from the University of Minnesota and a Masters degree in music education from the University of St. Thomas. I am certified in the Orff Schulwerk method and Remo Health Rhythms, and I've also had training in the Kodaly concept of teaching elementary music. My primary instrument is percussion, but I also play flute and piano and I am learning to play the guitar. I live in White Bear Lake and I have a dog named Ollie that I absolutely love! My best friends are my two grown daughters, Courtney-28 and Carly-27. They both live on their own and are very successful and smart! My hobbies include: kayaking, gardening, walking my dog, snow skiing, cooking and going for rides on my pontoon. I LOVE the outdoors! Another fun job I have is being the music director for the St. Paul Women's Drum Center--particularly, the performance group called drumHeart. We play all over the Twin Cities for runs, walks and special events. I have run into many of my Turtle Lake students while drumming at these events. In addition to general music classes at Turtle Lake, I direct the 4th and 5th grade choirs and co-direct the African Music Ensemble with Artist-in-Residence, Sowah Mensah.
